Farhad Chowdhury with Md Joynal Abedin Khan: The publicity of the upcoming by-polls of Dhaka-5 constituency is getting momentum day by day to draw the attention of the voters in the arena.
Different types of publicity materials like posters, banners, leaflets, placards and billboards with attracting writings, catchphrase and influential promises are hanging on walls, electric polls, trees, arches, vehicles and streets that were arranged by the supporters and election workers of the respective candidates. Earlier, the Election Commission (EC)
declared the schedule of vote in the constituency on October 17 as it got vacant after passing away the Awami League (AL) lawmaker Habibur Rahman Molla.
The AL backed candidate for Dhaka-5 Monirul Islam Monu was faced an interview with the Daily Industry (DI) yesterday.
The interview was taken by Farhad Chowdhry with Md Joynal Abedin Khan. The conversation of the interview has given below-
DI: What is your feeling after getting the symbol of boat as electoral token as an Awami League aspirant?
Monu: I would like to express the grateful to honourable Prime Minister Sheik Hasina and party leaders to select me as the party candidate for Dhaka-5 constituency (Jatrabari and Demra areas).
DI: Did the local people keep the faith on you that you might have eradicated the terrorism, extortion, drug and grabbing from the area?
Monu: I have the confidence that the voters would cast votes for me in the upcoming elections as the zero tolerance policy against the terrorism, extortion, drug and grabbing was taken by me during the president of Jatrabari (Jatrabari and Demra) organizing unit of the AL that earned popularity and confidence among the voters in the area.
DI: Do you feel that negative impact to hit the election as the previous councilor in Ward No 33 under the South City Corporation?
Monu: I was elected councilor for three times in the ward that proved my clean image personality and voters to support me in the elections.
DI: Did you play the role for the benefit of the common people in the area?
Monu: Yes, I was engaged in different social and cultural organisations. For example, I have donated poor students, rickshaw-pullers, and schools, colleges, madrasa, mosques and temples by defying the identity of sex, race and religion.
DI: Have you any special initiate to prevent the water logging and traffic jam in the area?
Monu: I have some special initiatives including widening of roads and streets and launching of latest water sewerage system to build up a modern constituency.
DI: Do you have any plan to make Dhaka-5 as safety, worthy and livable city?
Monu: Yes. I will do everything for the betterment of the people to make safety, worth and livable locality. No compromise to offenders to ensure the modern city.
DI: How much expectation to win the in the election race?
Monu: I have the confidence about the landslide win in the election.
