Suraia Islam: After ending of the 2019, the new year-2020 greets to all along with many hopes, dreams and challenges.
Many people are going to be started new journey in this year with the aim to get successes. Like the matured people, many children are now sewing new dreams in their mind with the beginning of year.
Many of them, who go to school from earlier, will attend at new classes since now. The children, who are yet to go to school, but have taken preparation to go to school, are now feeling happiness.
But, we the guardians should think about their first lesson locally called as “Hatekhori” before going to school. We can arrange a function on occasion of a child’s school going. Yes, it is a must. It may be called as “Hatekhori” for a child.
According to the Hindu religion, such as function is celebrated for the children during the Saraswati Puja. The festival was called as “Takti” during the regime of Emperor Akbar. But the revolution of times, it has now introduced as “Hatekhori” (first lesson).
It is painful that, the festival could not be a part of Bengali culture so far getting out from the religious cover. Even, the Hindu devotees don’t show so much interest to celebrate the festival amid huge enthusiasm. But, such festival may be a first part of school going for a child.
According to the senior citizens of the country, people of towns and villages used to celebrate “Hatekhori” festival. But now, there is no such as practices. We can celebrate such festival within three to four years of a child’s birth. People celebrate several festivals including birthday each year after birth of a child. But “Hatekhori” is the most important among the all festivals for a child in the beginning of his life.
According to ancient tradition, a child learns how to write on slate with chalk on the day of “Hatekhori”. This is why; this festival name is “Hatekhori”. On the day, a child gets new dresses along with new lessons.
Nowadays, some schools celebrate such as program at their premises. A child starts his or her journey with the help of a prominent person. But, such lesson should give at home to encourage the children by their parents or grandparents.
To make the day of “Hatekhori” so much interesting for a child, guardians should arrange such festival so that he or she enjoys the learning.
