Staff Correspondent: After the discovery of the coronavirus vaccine, the main goal for the government is to ensure it for Bangladesh first, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
“More than 200 companies around the world are working to discover the coronavirus vaccine. Of these, 141 companies are working at the initial stage and 25 companies are in the human testing phase. The vaccines of these companies are in the first stage of marketing after analyzing all the qualities.
In this case, the main goal for the government will be to ensure that Bangladesh gets this first,” he said.
The Health Minister was speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting on coronavirus vaccine at the meeting room of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the Secretariat yesterday.
Dr. Abdul Mannan, secretary of the Health Service Division was present in the meeting and wanted to know about the rapid availability of vaccines in the country from Professor Dr. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Director General of Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA), along with various scientific officials involved in the health vaccine sector, and informed the Health Minister through Zoom app.
At the meeting, the Health Minister directed the Director General of DGHS and the Director General of DGDA to inform the Chief Scientific Officer and Covid-19 concerned health officials about the latest information on coronavirus vaccine and what should be done to bring the vaccine first in the country.
Asadul Bari, Scientific Officer of ICDDR,B, Ferdousi Quaderi, Khaliquzzaman and other senior officials of the ministry were also present at the meeting.
Dr. Shamsul Haque, MNC&H Line Director of the DGHS, gave a presentation on the latest update of coronavirus vaccine.
