“A total of Tk 3.40 crore as grant was provided in 2017-18 fiscal year – Tk 2.80 crore for making feature film and Tk 60 lakh in favour of shortfilm production,” the minister said this while responding to a query placed
by treasury bench lawmaker Nizam Uddin Hazari of Feni-2 in the Jatiya Sangsad here.
Allocation of grant for 2018-19 fiscal year is now underway, said the minister, adding that the government is providing grant every year to encourage making of feature and short films.
Meanwhile, the government has formed ‘taskforce’ under the ministry of Information since October 2, 2007 to resist production and display of vulgar films and video piracy. The taskforce usually seizes the vulgar videos and
CD/DVDs of pirated films, said the minister in the JS with Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.
The government has also formed monitoring cells for taking immediate action against the production and display of vulgar film and video piracy, the minister noted.
