Rajshahi Bureau: Bangladesh Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed said the Army is ready to make the highest sacrifice for any national needs. General Aziz Ahmed made the remarks at a program in Rajshahi Cantonment yesterday morning where he was appointed as ‘5th Cornel of the Regiment’ of Bangladesh Infantry Regiment.
Aziz Ahmed is the first General of Bangladesh Army who has been elected as the ‘Cornel of the Regiment’ in four different Regiment/Corps.
The Army Chief said, “The expansion of the Army has begun with the sincere effort of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The members of this force played an important role in dealing with natural and man-made disasters in different times. Currently, their contribution to the development of country’s communication system is unprecedented. Army is ready to make maximum sacrifice for the country.”
Earlier, General Aziz was given guard of honor by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Infantry Regiment as he reached Rajshahi cantonment.
Later, Infantry Regiment Senior Captain, Subedar Major adorned General Aziz with the Cornel of the Regiment rank badge. Then the army chief laid floral wreath at ‘Bir Gaurav’ memorial to pay tribute to the martyrs.
