Staff Correspondent: Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu yesterday asked Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) to fix the national standard for products and services aimed at competing effectively in the international market.
“BSTI is the only national level standard testing institution of
Bangladesh. Industrialisation and life security of the country’s people depend on the activities of BSTI,” he said while addressing a discussion on ‘International Standard and the Fourth Industrial Revolution’ at BSTI auditorium here, a press release said. The state-run standards watchdog organised the discussion marking the ‘World Standard Day-2018’.
Speaking as the chief guest, Amu said the government has taken an initiative to reach the BSTI services at grassroots level.
“The initiative will help create awareness among people about the standard of products and services,” he said.
Additional Secretary of the Industries Ministry Begum Parag, BSTI Director General Sardar Abul Kalam and BSTI Director (Standard) M Saddazul Bari were, among others, present at the discussion.
