Staff Correspondent: Dreams come to true one after one; and the country is going to reach the desired goal. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to transform the capital dwellers’ dream into a reality. With her hand, Bangladesh is on the highway of development today. Metro rail’s first coach has arrived Dhaka to make that trend even faster.
A new coach has been pulled out of a container at the Metro rail depot in Uttara’s Diabari yesterday. Although this coach will not be attached directly to the Metro rail. This means it will not be used for passenger transport. This is basically for display. At the same time, ordinary people will be taught to ride in the metro with this coach.
Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Limited (DMTCL), MAN Siddique, told the media that the coaches made by Mitsubishi and Kawasaki of Japan were designed in accordance with the original coaches. The material and the method it is made are also same.
The coach will be kept at the Metro rail information center that is being built in Uttara for public viewing and learning. The coach will be open for the exhibition from next month, the Metro rail chief said.
He said that the main coaches of the passenger metro will arrive in Bangladesh on June 15 next. They have been made in Japan during the past one year. After coming home, a trial run will be made to see if they can comply with the Operation Control Center (OCC). This way, a trial run will be made for per set train after arrival.
MAN Siddique also said the construction of a visitor center near the Metro rail depot in Diabari, Uttara, is almost over. The sample train will be housed inside the MRT data and display center. The visitors will be given ideas about cutting tickets, boarding the train, standing, getting down from the train.
