Ayub Ali from Ctg: Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) makes remarkable headway in its 10 on-going big projects and it hopes to implement the works on time. CDA chairman Alhaj Md. Zahirul Alam Dubash yesterday briefed media on the progress of the projects.
The CDA chairman said, “The Potenga-Fouzderhat Ring road was totally earthen road that has turned into carpeting for suitable to ply vehicles. About 92 percent construction work was done and the rest of the work will be completed by a year.”
The another project for building of a barrage/road from Kalulghat bridge to Chaktai Khal is remain under the implementation, which 25 percent work also has been done, he said.
The construction work of express elevated way from Lalkhan Bazar to Airport has been resumed recently and its 36 percent work was completed, said the CDA chief.
The CDA chairman said, “The works of re-digging and extension of canals and reconstruction and development to prevent the water logging in the port city under the Army engineering core is going on with the 35 percent financial progress. The construction was shut when I took the charge in the office, soon after taking the portfolio; I have taken some initiative to resume the work that enabled to remove the waterlogging in the city in the last one year.”
In the meantime, about 81 percent financial progress work of the by-pass road from Baijid Bostami to Fouzderhat has been done, he said.
Besides, 60 percent financial progress work of the Baklia Express Road project was done to ensure service the dwellers, the CDA chief said.
“From the CDA self-revenue, we have built a modern building, including a shaping mall, at Stargola in the port city. Also a CDA Square Flat project work is now under construction at Nasirabad,” he said.
Also the construction work of a 10-storied building is going on at Postarpar in Dewan Hat in the port city, he said.
“We have taken the decision of the requisition of lands thru district administration after survey to build the ‘sub-town’ area, the CDA chairman said.
The authorities will go forward after formation of a master plan to develop the port city, which still remains in the primary stage, he said.
In the briefing, Army’s 34 Engineering Construction Acting Director General Col Abul Hasnat Md. Sayem, CDA Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shamas, and Chief Urban Planer architect Shahinul Islam Khan among others were present.
